Our Story

Rosewood Manor was founded in 2007 by a group of healthcare professionals who recognized a need for senior care that truly felt like home. They observed that many facilities, while meeting basic care requirements, lacked the warmth and personalized attention that make a meaningful difference in residents' daily lives. The founders envisioned a place where seniors would be treated not as patients in a medical setting, but as valued individuals living in a community designed around their comfort and dignity.

In the beginning, Rosewood Manor served just twelve residents in a converted heritage home in West Vancouver. The intimate setting allowed the team to develop deep relationships with residents and their families, establishing care practices that remain central to our approach today. As word spread about the quality of care and the welcoming atmosphere, demand grew. Over the years, we expanded thoughtfully, always prioritizing maintaining the personal touch that defined our earliest days.

Today, Rosewood Manor accommodates forty-five residents across various care levels, from those needing minimal assistance to individuals requiring comprehensive support. Despite our growth, we've preserved the foundational principle that guided our founding: every resident deserves to be known, respected, and cared for as an individual with their own preferences, routines, and life experiences. This commitment shapes everything from how we design our spaces to how we train our care team.

Looking ahead, we continue to evolve our services based on the changing needs of seniors and their families. We invest in ongoing training for our staff, stay informed about developments in senior care, and listen carefully to feedback from residents and families. Our vision is to remain a trusted resource for West Vancouver families seeking compassionate, professional care in an environment that feels genuinely homelike.

Health and Safety Protocols

We maintain comprehensive protocols for infection control, medication administration, and emergency preparedness. Our facility features monitored entry systems, fire safety equipment tested regularly, and building layouts designed to minimize fall hazards. Staff-to-resident ratios are maintained to ensure adequate supervision and timely response to needs.

Privacy and Confidentiality

We handle all personal and medical information in accordance with Canadian privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection Act. Access to resident records is limited to those directly involved in care, and we maintain secure storage for all documentation. Residents and families can request access to records at any time, and we explain how information is used and protected.

Continuous Quality Improvement

We regularly review our care practices, seeking input from residents, families, and staff to identify areas for enhancement. When concerns arise, we address them promptly and use them as opportunities to strengthen our systems. Our management team stays informed about developments in senior care and considers implementing new approaches when they align with our values and benefit residents.

Our Approach to Senior Living

At Rosewood Manor, we recognize that moving to a care residence represents a significant transition. Families often approach this decision after considerable thought and sometimes uncertainty. We aim to make the process as clear and comfortable as possible, understanding that trust must be earned through consistent, transparent practice rather than simply claimed.

Our philosophy centers on viewing each resident as a whole person rather than focusing solely on care needs. While we certainly address physical health and safety, we also pay attention to emotional well-being, social connection, and opportunities for continued engagement with interests and hobbies. A resident who enjoyed gardening might participate in tending our raised garden beds. Someone with a musical background might appreciate regular music sessions or the chance to play an instrument if they're able.

We structure our days around residents' natural rhythms rather than institutional schedules. While certain routines help provide structure and ensure necessary care occurs reliably, we allow flexibility for individual preferences. Some residents prefer to rise early, while others appreciate sleeping later. Meal times have some flexibility, and we accommodate those who prefer eating in their rooms occasionally rather than always joining communal dining.

Physical spaces throughout Rosewood Manor are designed with homelike comfort in mind. Common areas feature comfortable seating arrangements that encourage conversation, with adequate lighting for reading or crafts. Resident rooms can be personalized with furniture and meaningful items from home, helping create familiar, comforting environments. We maintain indoor plants and have accessible outdoor spaces where weather permits residents to enjoy fresh air and natural surroundings.

Dignity in care means respecting privacy, maintaining confidentiality, and providing assistance in ways that preserve self-esteem. When help is needed with personal care, our staff approach these moments with sensitivity, allowing residents as much independence as safely possible and respecting their modesty and preferences. We recognize that accepting help with intimate tasks can feel vulnerable, and we train our team to be respectful and efficient while maintaining the resident's dignity.

Communication with families remains a priority throughout a resident's time with us. Beyond scheduled care plan reviews, we maintain open channels for questions or concerns. Families can call to check in, and we proactively reach out if there are changes in condition or care needs. We welcome family participation in care decisions and encourage visiting, recognizing that maintaining family bonds supports residents' emotional health significantly.

Rosewood Manor operates as part of the broader West Vancouver community. We appreciate the neighborhood setting that allows residents to maintain some connection to community life. Local schools sometimes visit for intergenerational programs. Residents who are able occasionally participate in nearby community events. These connections, when desired by residents, help maintain a sense of belonging beyond our facility walls.
